PYFL Senior Division
North Oxnard Warriors Red - 34
Newbury Park Steelers Black - 0
In the second round of the PYFL championship playoffs, the Warriors showed no signs of rust from their bye week and defeated the Steelers 34-0 to remain undefeated and advance to the quarter-finals. Chris Davis led the charge, scoring three of the four touchdowns the Warriors had in the first quarter. Davis received the opening kickoff and returned it 80 yards for the score. Davis also converted the 2-point. The Warrior offense received the ball after a Newbury Park punt. Davis, on his only carry of the game, raced 86 yards for his second TD. Jayln Harrison forced a turnover on defense with an interception. Brandon Dawkins completed on all of his two pass attempts including a 19 yard TD to Davonte Nunnery. Dawkins also connected to Derien Fallejo for the 2-point conversion. The defense forced the Steelers to punt again and Davis returned the punt 64 yards for his third TD. Isaiah Benavides added a TD on a 10 yard run. Angel Gonzalez, Malik Patton, Dylan Matautia, Anthony Rizo, and Manuel Jara paved on the way on the offensive Line. The defense provided big hits all night. Bryce Dixon, Andrew Valenzuela, Adam Ontiveros, Stevan Ingram, Devin Williams, Josh Carrera, Ira Morris, Israel Medrano, AJ Morales, Lawrence Droughn, Jesse Rangel and Jason Nguyen all played well on defense to preserve the shut out. The Warriors (9-0) will play the Ventura Packers Black (6-3) on Saturday 11/21 at Oxnard High School, 6:00 PM. For more info, visit: www.northoxnardwarriors.com
